This course will increase knowledge and understanding of the current feed delivery model with the aim of ensuring consistency for all feed enforcement officers. Changes to the Feed Law Code of Practice make the assessment and recording of accurate and consistent Level/Likelihood of Compliance scores a must as these can drastically alter the required inspection frequency and effect whether earned recognition is applied to the business. Earned Recognition was introduced into the Feed Law Code of Practice in April 2014 and should be applied to Feed businesses who demonstrably maintain high standards of feed safety by taking appropriate steps to comply with the law.
This workshop will explain both the FSA and ACTSO Risk Assessment Schemes, Level/ Likelihood of Compliance along with earned recognition and delegates will participate in numerous practical scenarios with the aim of increasing their understanding and consistency across LA's regions and ultimately the country.

The 'Level 3 Award in HACCP for Animal Feed Manufacturing' course is designed to explain the principles of HACCP in animal feed manufacturing processes and apply these principles to the manufacture of raw materials, additives, blends, compound feeds and final rations. It also studies the implementation and management of a HACCP system, and uses a case study to show how a modern HACCP study may look. It is suitable for enforcement officers who inspect or advise feed businesses in Regulation (EC)183/2005, and explains HACCP application in practical feed manufacturing businesses.
The course will cover the following topics, giving time for discussion and exercises to simplify and understand how a successful HACCP system can be used to manage feed safety;
• An introduction to HACCP
• The seven principles of HACCP and their practical application in feed businesses
• Pre-requisite programmes
• Design and control of Critical Control Points
• Implementing and managing a HACCP plan
• Examination of a compound feed case study
A multiple-choice, HABC-approved examination, which, if successful, results in a nationally-accredited certificate - HABC Level 3 Award in HACCP for Food Manufacturing.
